Vision in the Desert.  When you travel from the populated, popular areas along Sheikh Zayed Road and away from the beach and waterfront, you see that this is TRULY DESERT.  It took a LOT of vision to see what this dry and desolate land could become.  It is easy to forget that you are in the desert when  you are in most of Dubai, because there is lots and lots of green.  But maintaining that green takes a lot of water.  Drive away from the water – and the desert appears.

Just forty years ago this was ALL desert.  Where skyscrapers and manmade canals and entire neighborhoods have sprung up was once just desert wasteland.  Just imagine the money, manpower, sheer imagination and willpower it took to create the Dubai that is today.  And the building and growth continues.  It is truly mindboggling.
